The challenge

In this television series, teenagers enter a pirated game through augmented-reality contact lenses. A digital world has to coexist with their physical lives — and make sense to the audience watching them.

The creative direction

I developed the visual language of this world over roughly a year: how its interfaces appear, how characters use them, and how the experience affects what they perceive.

Two ways of seeing

An interface needs to feel usable to the character inside the story. It also needs to communicate clearly to a viewer outside it. The visual design sits between those two needs.
